About
Born and raised in Ukraine, Helen DeBoer took a leap of faith and came to Los Angeles at the age of 18 to study. She married and raised twins while working as a software engineer for big corporations. During all that time she enrolled herself in private art classes to support her hobby and to submerge herself into the world of imagination. After remarrying to her current husband, they welcomed a new boy while raising their three children from previous marriages. One unfortunate day changed her life. A doctor's mistake during a routine surgery left one of the twins with a serious brain injury. The life she knew and the future she had hoped for all ended in an instant. She became a full-time caregiver for her disabled son as the foundation of all her beliefs crumbled down. A long road to recovery started with the reevaluation of every aspect of their lives and finding a new meaning for life in different values and new priorities. During the rise of Covid, her family moved to Malibu, and she was driven to start painting again. She credits her own and her family's healing to the enchanting place and community that she now calls home. Finding inspiration for her art in the beauty of nature is a remedy that she hopes to share with others.
